Insurance

We are committed to providing you with the best care possible. We consider it a privilege that you have chosen us for your needs.

Schedule a Complimentary Cosmetic Consultation

Therefore, we strive to inform you of all the medical aspects of your needs and also would like to advise you on our financial policy for both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery procedures.

Paying for INSURANCE-COVERED PROCEDURES

Reconstructive consultation fees will be billed to your insurance company. It is our patient’s responsibility to provide our office with current insurance information.

We will ask for your insurance card at your first visit to obtain a copy for our records. We will occasionally request a copy at a later date to update your records so please have your insurance card every time you come to the office.

If current information is not obtained at the time of service, it will become the patient’s responsibility to pay until current information is provided to the clinic.

  • Medical procedures using insurance are subject to copay, deductible, and out-of-pocket costs.
  • Copay and deductible payments are taken at the time of service.
  • Payments for estimated costs are due at your pre-operative appointment for all insurance-based procedures.
  • Some reconstructive procedures require pre-authorization from your insurance carrier. Our office is pleased to provide this service following your consultation. The authorization process may take 4 to 6 weeks. Surgery will not be scheduled until the authorization is received.
  • Completing Disability Forms and/or insurance forms requires office staff time, copies to be made, and time away from patient care for the physicians. Therefore, our charge for this service is $25 and we request 5 business days for completion of this task.

RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY paid by Veterans Affairs

The United States Department of Veteran Affairs recognizes that Wilmington Plastic Surgery’s acceptance of assignment is self-determined and occurs on an individual and case-by-case basis. As such, Wilmington Plastic Surgery is not required to accept cases regardless of VA approval status.

Per our practice policy, we are happy and honored to work with the VA on cases that Wilmington Plastic Surgery determines to be medically necessary and reconstructive in nature. Our practice continues to cherish these opportunities to demonstrate our appreciation for our veterans.

Wilmington Plastic Surgery does not accept VA coverage for cosmetic cases.

Filing your insurance claim

We participate with most major insurance networks. However, we only accept Medicaid for the following patients:

  • Patients under the age of 17;
  • Breast cancer patients (any age)
  • as a supplement to Medicare;
  • Patients referred to us by physicians through Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center

As a courtesy, we will file your claims for you with your primary and secondary insurance carriers (if Medicaid is secondary, see the above rule). However, we will not become involved in disputes between you and your insurance carrier.

We will supply all the necessary information to assist you. Please remember that insurance is a contract between you, the patient, and your insurance company. Ultimately you are responsible for payment in full to Wilmington Plastic Surgery.

When your insurance company has paid its portion of the charge, a statement will be generated and mailed to you. Any balance due is your responsibility and is due upon receipt of the statement from our office.

If you are here in result of a an accident-related injury claim:
