How Coolsculpting® Elite Works
CoolSculpting is the only procedure that uses patented cooling technology to target and eliminate fat cells with no damage to the surrounding tissue – we are proud to be one of the few practices in Wilmington to offer this treatment. The delivery of precise cooling only effects the targeted fat cells, leaving adjacent tissue unharmed. After the cooling technology freezes off the unwanted fat cells, the dead cells are removed from the body through the lymphatic system throughout the next three to four months, producing visible results.
The CoolSculpting® Procedure, developed by ZELTIQ,™ is based on sound science called cryolipolysis. Research demonstrated that when fat cells are exposed to precisely controlled cooling for a sustained period of time, they die. This process is called “induced apoptosis.”The dead fat cells are broken down and digested by the immune cells in the body and removed by the lymphatic system
What to expect at your CoolSculpting Elite Treatment at Wilmington Plastic Surgery and Med Spa
CoolSculpting Elite treatments at Wilmington Plastic Surgery and Med Spa begin by identifying the unwanted fat, in which the provider will measure and trace out the desired treatment area. Patients will then lay on a treatment chair ensuring comfort and effective treatment. The provider cleans and preps the area, placing a gel pad over the treatment area, creating a barrier to protect the skin from the cooling element.
A non-invasive applicator is then attached to the area. Using Cryolipolysis technology, the adapter(s) deliver controlled cooling to the treatment area to specifically target and eliminate fat cells the day of treatment, permanently removing the treated layer of fat. The device will remain on the area for 35 – 75 minutes, in which patients can relax, watch tv, or take a nap! Our providers will remove the device and massage the treatment area to generate blood flow and target additional fat cells.
After your treatment, patients are free to resume normal activity. They should not experience any pain but can expect sensitivity to the treated area.Our providers can work with patients to develop comprehensive treatment plans that will help reach their goals and achieve maximum results. Noticeable results are generally seen within the first two months following the initial treatment, but most patients will need at least two treatment sessions to achieve their desired sculpting results!
